The Body’s Healing Blueprint

Understanding the healing Intelligence of the Body

This Edition’s Pulse:

In this edition we are going into something extraordinary. Looking back to the very beginning of the human body. It is a path less trodden by our thoughts. As we keep juggling everyday living. But in reality, from one single cell, your body built an entire universe—43 trillion cells strong.

Let us explore the built-in intelligence of your body to heal, repair, and regenerate… using science-backed tools you already have.

From🔬 Stem cells, and 🧬 epigenetics, through🔄 autophagy, and 🧠 the placebo effect—all connected to Mouth, Muscle, and Mind. The Triad pillars of healthy living and optimal health.

MOUTH — Molecular Messaging Through Food

What you eat isn't just fuel—it's a code. Every bite of food you take speaks to your DNA. Unlike your fixed genes, their expression—whether turned on or off—can change based on the molecular messages from your nutrients, toxins, and meal timing. This process is called epigenetics (Greek: "epi" = above or on top of genes). It’s how your environment, lifestyle, and food influence your genes' behavior—without changing the genetic code itself.

Did You Know?

In 2006, scientists Andrew Fire and Craig Mello were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering how RNA interference (RNAi) can silence specific genes. This finding and the work of others in the epigenetic field paved the way to understanding that your genes aren’t your destiny—your choices are. Then, in 2012, Epigenetics finally received the Nobel Prize recognition it deserves

How Food Becomes Information and medicine

Nutrients are not passive—they’re bioactive molecules mostly from plants. They interact with receptors, enzymes, and epigenetic regulators such as:

  • Histone acetyltransferases (big name but are..) – proteins that loosen DNA to increase gene transcription or expression. Also, DNA methyltransferases – add methyl groups to DNA, silencing gene expression (mostly bad genes)

  • Sirtuins – these are sometimes called“longevity genes,” they are activated by calorie restriction and also polyphenols from berries and grapes like resveratrol

  • These and other cellular “switches” respond to key lifestyle factors, such as food composition, caloric load, and meal timing.

Simple Epigenetic Practices to Heal Your Body from the Inside Out:

  • Eat Color-Rich Vegetables

  • Dark greens, purples, reds, oranges, and blues contain polyphenols and flavonoids like:

  • Sulforaphane in broccoli sprouts → activates Nrf2, a master antioxidant gene regulator that neutralizes toxins and fights invasive microbes

  • Anthocyanins in blueberries → enhance BDNF, the brain cell builder, supporting neuroplasticity and cognitive healing

  • Curcumin in turmeric → influences HDACs, suppressing inflammatory genes, and has become one of the most tested natural anti-inflammatory substances.

These compounds boost antioxidant defenses, reduce DNA damage, and promote cellular renewal.

Nobel Prize for Medicine Trivia

Between 1901 and 2024, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded 115 times to 229 laureates. Click here for more information.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025 has not been awarded yet. It will be announced on Monday 6 October,

MUSCLE — Activate Your Stem Cells Through Movement

Your body is always listening. When you move, it responds—not just at the surface, but deep in the marrow of your biology.

Dr. Obinna

Your muscle tissue is more than strength and ‘buff looks’—it is a metabolically active endocrine organ. When you engage it through intentional movement, signals ripple through your entire physiology, primarily to stem cells, the body’s in-built repair system.

Stem cells, particularly mesenchymal stem cells and satellite cells, lie dormant in your tissues from the cessation of active growth. They hold the potential to become muscle, bone, cartilage, or blood vessels—but they need a reason to wake up. Exercise is that reason.

 What Triggers Stem Cell Activity?

  • Resistance Training (e.g., body weight, bands, weights) generates microtears in muscle, prompting satellite cells to fuse with existing fibers and rebuild stronger tissue. [SHOP FROM AMAZON FOR SOME OF THESE HERE]

  • High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) creates metabolic stress that stimulates systemic stem cell activation and mitochondrial biogenesis.

  • Moderate Aerobic Exercise (brisk walking, cycling, swimming) improves blood flow and reduces inflammatory cytokines, creating an environment for stem cell migration and integration.

  • Even daily walking has been shown to increase muscle-derived myokines, which regulate insulin sensitivity, reduce systemic inflammation, and trigger muscle regeneration.

In essence, your muscles talk to your DNA through movement. Stem cells listen, then act.

 Bottom line:
Sedentary living keeps your repair team asleep. But the moment you move—especially with intention—you activate healing processes coded into your biology.

MIND — The Biology of Belief: How the Placebo Effect Heals

What if I told you that the most powerful healing tool in the world isn’t a drug, a surgery, or a supplement? It’s your mind.

Not in a vague, mystical way—but in a scientifically measurable, reproducible way.
Your brain is a dynamic command center—a neurochemical switchboard—that sends messages to every cell in your body, shaping everything from hormone levels to immune responses. It has been doing this for about two weeks in utero when you could count the number of cells in the tiny Zygot as the notochord, which eventually differentiate to become the brain and spinal cord. It has been in command!

The cells obey because they all started from that tiny ball formed by a sperm and an ovum. Perhaps the most fascinating evidence of this is the placebo effect.

Once brushed off as a statistical fluke, the placebo effect is now recognized in neuroscience as a legitimate biological response to belief.

Here’s what happens when someone believes they’re receiving healing—even if they’re only given a sugar pill:

  • The prefrontal cortex, which governs attention and expectation, activates.

  • It signals the hypothalamus and brainstem, triggering the release of dopamine and endorphins—natural painkillers and mood enhancers.

  • It calms the sympathetic nervous system and boosts the parasympathetic system via the vagus nerve—which means reduced inflammation, improved digestion, and better cellular repair.

  • Even mitochondrial function improves, energizing your cells.

What’s amazing?
Brain scans show that people receiving placebos, either as surgery or medications, often show identical neural activity to those getting actual medicines like morphine. The body responds—not just symbolically, but physiologically—to belief.

So what does this mean for you?

You don’t need to wait for a prescription to initiate healing. You can cultivate it through intentional mental practices like:

  • Visualization and mental rehearsal [LISTEN TO A SYNOPSIS ON SPOTIFY]

  • Mindful breathing and meditation

  • Gratitude journaling and affirmations

  • Prayer, faith, or deep spiritual alignment

These are not “soft skills.”
They are neurobiological interventions—proven to reshape the brain, regulate gene expression, and promote healing.

Collaboration and cooperation with primary care providers is crucial to effectively support them in delivering optimal healing and care.
